BRIEF REPORT
Earthquake in Panama – October 2026
MGPanama Foundation's Humanitarian Response
On October 9, 2026, a powerful 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck Panama, with its epicenter near Tonosí, between the provinces of Los Santos and Veraguas. The earthquake caused significant damage to homes, schools, churches, health centers, and roads, affecting several communities across the country.
The emergency continued in the following weeks, with more than a thousand aftershocks reported. According to SINAPROC's October 30 report, more than 55,000 people had been registered in affected areas. Two fatalities had been reported, and thousands of families continued to need assistance and support as they worked toward recovery.
MGPanama's Response
In response to this emergency, Fundación MGPanama provided humanitarian assistance to affected families within the limits of our available resources. Our contribution included:
Food supplies for families.
Blankets.
Tarpaulins to provide temporary protection for damaged roofs and homes.
Bibles
To deliver this assistance, we partnered with a local church, combining our donations with theirs so they could deliver the resources to families in need.
Although our contribution was modest compared to the magnitude of the disaster, we are grateful to God for allowing us to participate and extend a helping hand during such a difficult time.
Prayer Requests
Please continue praying for families, churches, and businesses still dealing with the earthquake's consequences, for the restoration of their homes and communities, and for strength and provision for those working to meet ongoing needs.
In times of difficulty, we also have the opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ through compassion, unity, and service to others.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Gal 6:2
